Every SmartShift home is covered by our 3-year structural warranty plus full manufacturer warranties on every component — stacking up to 25 years on solar, 20 years on tanks, 15 years on hot water, and more. Full list, claim form and response SLA below.

What's covered

Your 3-year warranty.

All SmartShift builds come with a 3-year structural warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. Covered issues will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you.

Fully transferable if you sell the unit within the cover period.
Manufacturer — up to 25 years
  • Solar modules — 12 yr product, 25 yr performance
  • Solar racking (Clenergy) — 25 yr
  • Water tanks (West Coast Poly) — 20 yr
  • Gas hot water (Rinnai Infinity) — 15 yr heat exchanger
  • Electric hot water (Stiebel Eltron) — 5–7 yr
  • Aircon (Mitsubishi Electric) — 5 yr parts & labour
  • Pumps (DAB Esybox) — 5 yr
  • Solar inverter — 5 yr (extendable to 10)
  • Off-grid waste (Graf / Nature Loo) — 10 yr
All components SAA-certified or WaterMark-compliant. We hold the records — you don't need the original receipts.
Not covered
  • Normal wear & tear (sealant refresh, hinge tension, paint touch-ups)
  • Cosmetic marks from move-in or use (scuffs, stains, fading from UV)
  • Damage from misuse, accident or neglect
  • Unauthorised structural modifications or third-party additions
  • Acts of God beyond the unit's rated wind/BAL classification (cyclone, flood, fire above spec)
  • Site failure — slab heave, footing movement, poor levelling

Parts, labour and the technician's call-out are covered. We coordinate the contractor and absorb the travel within standard service zones.

Transferable
If you sell the unit

The 3-year structural warranty transfers automatically to the new owner for the remainder of the cover period. Just notify us in writing.

Can I get a copy of the written Warranty Agreement?
Yes — email hello@smartshifthomes.com.au and we'll send the current Warranty Agreement PDF the same day. Conveyancers and lenders can request it directly.
What if I'm interstate or in a regional area?
We service nationally. For locations outside standard metro zones, we'll either dispatch a qualified local tradesperson or fly a technician — whichever is faster. We absorb the cost on covered repairs; you don't manage the contractor.
What if I relocate the unit later?
Trailer-mounted units stay covered as long as the relocation is done by a qualified mover and the unit is re-levelled correctly on the new site. Static-mounted units: notify us before the move so we can confirm the new foundation meets spec. Damage caused during a self-managed move isn't covered.
Who decides if an issue is "wear and tear" vs. a defect?
Our build manager reviews every claim with the supporting photos and, where needed, an independent qualified tradesperson's report. If we disagree on the call, we'll meet you halfway — share the cost on borderline cases rather than turn the claim down.
Does the warranty still apply if I bought through a broker or dealer?
Yes. The warranty is between SmartShift and the end-owner of the unit, regardless of how the sale was originated. Keep your invoice and serial number — that's all you need to lodge.
What about the manufacturer warranties on appliances?
We hold registration records for every Mitsubishi, Rinnai, Stiebel Eltron, WCP, DAB and solar component supplied with your build. If an appliance fails within its manufacturer term, contact us — we'll lodge the manufacturer claim on your behalf. No need to find the original paperwork.

Before you claim
Please check that your issue falls within the 3-year warranty period from your delivery date, and that it's not related to normal wear and tear or modifications.
